From the Chairman...August 2004
I am writing this as I have just arrived home from the
first National Judges’ Meeting conducted by ADAA. With 18 judges from Trainee to
Full – it was a great milestone for ADAA. This meeting will ensure continued
consistency across any ADAA sanctioned competitions. I thank everyone for giving
up his or her weekend – a big effort.
The new regulations are back from the printers and are available for sale. We
saw the first ever Advanced tests judged by Cathy Slot at the BADC comp last
month. This looks to be an exciting event as we watched all the handlers try to
save precious time as they negotiated the course. No clear rounds, but plenty of
could have / might have beens. The first Regular and Junior classes will be
conducted later this month, so that should prove interesting for members who
have elected to enter these classes.
ADAA is in the process of securing a venue at Heathcote for the NSW leg of the
Greg Derrett and Susan Garrett agility-training camp.
Grand Prix early entries have closed and all is looking great for another
fantastic year of agility. Numbers appear to be up on last year, so it should be
a great celebration at Uralla.
The sets of electronic timing gear have finally arrived, so be sure to look out
for them at some of the upcoming competitions. ADAA has one set located in
Sydney and one set in Brisbane. The clubs of South-East Queensland pooled
together to purchase a second set for Brisbane. For details about hiring this
equipment please contact us.
The South East Queensland agility camp was run successfully again. Many thanks
to the 13 instructors and 7 helpers that contributed to a great weekend of fun
and learning for the 55 handlers and dogs. A big thanks to the 4 clubs (SFAC,
ADCQ, PADS, WAAG) that brought gear along, your continued support is
appreciated. Again we had attendees from as far a field as Atherton in far North
Queensland. The weather was mostly kind and I received plenty of positive
feedback from those who attended. The new training shirts proved popular and
sold out in most colours / sizes.
Two months to the Grand Prix,
Regards,
Natalie Kirkwood
