From the ADAA Chair ... July 2006

Members will have seen that the Agility Regulations have been finalised. A copy can be viewed online or purchased via ADAA’s Agility shop. You should consider obtaining a copy of the new Regulations and having a read through. The Regulations are broken into different Sections, so start with those that are relevant to you. Section 3 for the Combined Programme events and titles (for beginners and pairs/team events), Section 4 if your dog is on the International Programme Register or Section 5 for those on the Regular Programme Register. If you are a Junior you might want to have a look at Section 6 which details the Junior Programme. Juniors wishing to be eligible for Junior Handler Owned & Trained Certificates need to complete and lodge the JHOT registration form now available from the webpage.

The Grand Prix is ADAA’s next major event. Early Bird Entries for the Grand Prix close on 12 July 2006 so don’t dilly dally. The Board has catered for all members with inclusion of events for dogs on the Regular Programme Register including an Individual Challenge. Make a commitment now to have a weekend away with a group of people with common interests and participate in a weekend’s activities with your dog(s). Planning is now well underway with the schedule released and all of the other logistics progressing along nicely.

In order to be considered for the challenge events you must pay the full entry fee ($35 for first & $15 for second dog for early bird entries). The fee of $7 only applies if you do not wish to enter the challenge events and only wish to do some of the events on page 2 of the entry form. Please note the first & subsequent dogs are based on the number of dogs per handler, however each dog only incurs one entry fee. For example if your dog is also being run by a Junior Handler in the Junior events, then there is no additional fee, you just need to include details on the entry form. It causes a great amount of extra work if incorrect monies are paid, and refunds or credits have to be organised. So please carefully work out your costs payable. Make sure you pre-order your meals so we can issue you with meal vouchers. This way the caterers can have a better idea of how many they are catering for. If you are ordering a shirt please specify colour and size and prepay; we will be ordering exact numbers. Add your camping fee, then add your sponsorship if applicable. Once you are done please check your entry (make sure you haven’t forgotten to complete page 2) and double check your totals.

If you have any non- competing helpers coming for the weekend, add their names to your entry forms as well with details of when they are willing to assist and check the rebates to which they are entitled. If you are coming purely as a helper, not a competitor or if your business or club would like to be a sponsor please let us know by email or mail. A small group of dedicated scribes for the weekend would be a huge boon and ease the load of all the work being done by competitors

It is membership renewal time again for those whose three year membership expired on 30 June 2006. Correspondence has been sent to all members who are affected. If you are not sure, please check the information previously sent to you with your membership information (or last renewal) as it will have your membership expiry date on it. Simply download a membership renewal form from the web and submit to ADAA so you are eligible to compete in the competitions in July and the ensuing months. If have a query, please email chairman@adaa.com.au or phone the ADAA mobile on 0423 138 914.

Finally I would like to thank Siegfried Clever for his contribution to the Board of Directors during his term of office. Having participated in the finalisation of the Agility Regulations, Siegfried has stepped down from the Board as at 30 June 2006. Siegfried continues to make a substantial commitment to ADAA through being a Judge as well as through his contribution as a committee member of ADAA’s affiliate South Coast Dog Training Club Inc.

May you enjoy your training with your dog and achieve your goals.
