![]() From the ADAA Chair ... July 2009This year’s SE Qld Training Camp was a winner despite the wet weather. We had attendees from Bundaberg to Toowoomba, perhaps not as far afield as some previous years, but everyone did a fantastic job of embracing all of the lessons to be learnt. With nearly 60 participants each day, numbers were up from last year and everyone seemed to manage to share the field amicably. I would like to thank all of our (volunteer) instructors, without whom we could not offer such a camp (in alphabetical order): Marion Allen, Neville Allen, Tandy Allen, Kate Bartels, Allison Britton, Denise Crook, Sharon Dungey, Jeanette Durante, Julianne Hoey, Natalie Kirkwood, Margaret Lind, Kerry Lovell, Alison Muddle, Karen Noud, Sharyn Palmer, Tony Redwood, Cathy Slot, Karen Wilkinson and Steph Winter. I would also like to thank Peter Mason, Rhonda Anderson and Vincent Huang for coming along and delivering their session on nutrition, fitness and well-being for the Agility handler. In addition, a number of other people helped during and with the organisation of the camp, therefore thanks to: Marion Allen, Nat Creedon, Brooke Foy, Julianne Hoey, Kat Taylor and Steph Winter. Finally, with no equipment there is no Agility, so thanks to Agility Dog Club of Queensland, Pine Agility Dog Sports Club and SunCoast FunDogs Agility Club and their members. Thank you all for jumping in and getting equipment packed onto the trailers, before heading back to your cabin/caravan/camping area to pack up your own belongings. A reminder that it is the end of our financial year and renewal of memberships that expired on 30 June 2009 are now overdue - view the list of members due to renew as at 17 July 2009 (PDF 76kb). Please check your last membership/renewal advice for your membership expiry date. If still unsure, or if you cannot locate the details, please email secretary@adaa.com.au and we will confirm when your membership expires. Remember, only Financial Members of ADAA may enter ADAA competitions and all Owners of dogs entered in ADAA competitions must also be Financial Members. If you are not, not only will you be in breach of ADAA’s Regulations, you will also forfeit all Clear Round and/or Qualifying Certificates earned, so it is definitely in your interests to ensure that your membership is up-to-date. Congratulations to the winners of ADAA’s WAC fundraising raffle - Fazette Cheetham, Ian Weston and Kellie Jeffries. Entries are now open for the second SE Qld fundraiser competition to be held at ADCQ’s grounds on Saturday 5 September 2009. Fundraiser clothing is also available for order via ADAA’s website and we will keep you posted on other exciting opportunities to support the Aussie team heading over to the UK in 2010. Early entries for the Grand Prix have now closed but don’t despair you can still get your late entry in. Make sure you get it done now so that you don’t get caught up and miss out altogether. It looks like being lots of fun, I’ve heard there will be strong contingent from WA as well as Vic, not only supporting the second WAC Selection Round but also vying for the various Challenges on offer. Sunday night is sure to be a barrel of fun, with its theme of “All Things Pommy” in recognition of UK Agility hosting the 2010 WAC. A reminder that, in Competition, you may only direct your Dog to renegotiate an obstacle if it has already made a Course Fault on that obstacle, otherwise it is a Dismissal for training and you must immediately leave the ring (unless the specific rules of a Game allow the repetition of obstacles). This is irrespective of whether or not you and your Dog have been already Eliminated in that round. I think a number of members have not realised that a Course Fault must have been incurred before they send their dog over a piece of equipment for a second time. May you enjoy your training with your dog and achieve your goals. Cathy Slot |
