![]() From the ADAA Chair ... June 2006Thank you to those members who took the time to send in their thoughts on whether or not Not-For-Competition should be included in the Regulations. The Board has decided that, in order to meet the expressed desire of members, Not-For-Competition will not be included in the Regulations. The Board is currently agreeing on final wording, with the expectation that the electronic version of the Regulations will be uploaded to the webpage in the very near future. Judges workshops have been conducted in both NSW and Qld to bring all of our Judges up-to-date on the various changes. You will also note that schedules have been posted for July competitions so don’t forget to get your entries in as soon as you can. So bring on the new Regulations and the exciting developments in ADAA’s Agility Programme. SunCoast FunDogs Agility Club Inc held their 10th Anniversary Celebration at their end of May double header competition. Congratulations to Alison Muddle (President) and the Events Committee for bringing it all together. For those newer to ADAA, SunCoast FunDogs was created by four dog training enthusiasts Audrey and Francis Harvey and Shaun and Laura Heeley. Their first training night was on 19 August 1996 at Caboolture Showgrounds, so the actual birthday is a little way away. Nevertheless what a party it was. The Club has been continuously supported by a stalwart group of members which include Lyndal Nichols, Sharyn Palmer, Amanda Schofield, Sharon Mellema, Julianne Hoey and Wayne Stutz. Members of the Club put together a video that was played at the party, showing a variety of video clips and photos from dogs originally in the club to current dogs displaying the club banner. I am sure anyone who has had anything to do with the club will attest to the fact that they have been affected by the wonderful balance that the members of the Club have achieved by creating a quality training programme, maintaining a fun and social atmosphere. This was amply demonstrated by their members (new and “old”) having some wonderful rounds on the weekend culminating in Sharyn Palmer getting the last card for Chipper’s MAAD title. Medallion Stakes rounds in NSW and Qld have now passed Round 6, with Round 7 results in the process of being updated to the web. At the conclusion of Round 6 there are already four dogs (and a number more not too far away) that have achieved enough points for their Bronze Medallion with a couple well on their way to Silver. There are still three more rounds to go, so get your entries in. Even if you don’t achieve a medallion, the top 10 dogs in each class, from each state, will be invited to the Medallion Invitational Stakes at the Grand Prix. The Board encourages all members who don’t have experience in stewarding to undertake training so that the Members are reminded that the Stewards Training Notes (PDF 915 kb) are available for download and completion. If you score 80% or better you receive a certificate of achievement recognizing your efforts. Reminders - If you don’t already have your nominations in the Queensland and New South Wales Agility Training Camps then you only have a short time to do so. NSW Camp closed on 6 June and Qld Camp closes on 12 June. Early Bird Entries for the Grand Prix close on 12 July 2006. It is a huge programme this year that caters for all handlers and dogs. Where else can you get 2 1/2 days worth of Agility for $35-00 (less for your second dog), a steeplechase plus some great social activities? May you enjoy your training with your dog and achieve your goals. Cathy Slot |
