From the ADAA Chair ... June / July 2007

This month’s report is June and July combined as time got away from me with Steve away for two weeks and having to cover him both from looking after our new puppies’ point of view, as well as in the office at our company.

The Qld ADAA Training Camp saw members travel from as far as Townsville and Central Queensland in order to participate, as well as members from South East Queensland. Every person I saw participating at the camp was able to walk away with a new/improved skill level. This exceptional opportunity was provided to ADAA’s members at an exceptionally low cost and included great food, great company and great instruction at a great venue (even if a little damp on Saturday). Of course, none of this would happen without many hours of effort, organisation and heart-ache. Special thanks to Marion Allen for putting this year’s Qld Training Camp together. Of course the camp wouldn’t be able to take place without the volunteer instructors, and these were (in alphabetical order) Marion Allen, Neville Allen, Tandy Allen, Wendy Blakeston, Alison Britton, Steve Drinkwater, Debbie Duce, Sharon Dungey, Tracey Harrison-Hill, Natalie Kirkwood, Margaret Lind, Jo Lewohl, Kim Longwill, Alison Muddle, Damian Noud, Karen Noud, Sharyn Palmer, Maria Pascoe, Anita Pengilly, Sonia Plummer, Stephanie Spence, Jeanette Stanley and Maria Thiry. Thanks also to Tandy Allen, Kate Bartels and Leanne Wegner for sorting out all of the merchandise and getting everyone matched with their right size of Training Camp clothing. Finally, thanks to the clubs for supplying equipment for use at the camp, and their members for towing the trailers to/from the venue - Agility Dog Club of Queensland, Pine Agility Dog Sports Club and SunCoast FunDogs Agility Club. Details are now being finalised for the NSW ADAA Training Camp to be held 1-2 September 2007 – just in time to brush up your skills before the ADAA Grand Prix in Uralla. Keep an eye out on the ADAA webpage for the camp schedule and booking form.

It is the end of our financial year and membership renewal time for those whose three year membership expired on 30 June 2007. We have taken every effort to advise all members who have renewals due, however, unfortunately there are many instances in which members have moved address since our last contact (postal and/or email) and our correspondence has been returned. Please check your last membership/renewal advice for your membership expiry date. If still unsure, or if you cannot locate the details, please email chairman@adaa.com.au and we will confirm when your membership expires. Remember, only Financial Members of ADAA may enter ADAA competitions and all Owners of dogs entered in ADAA competitions must also be Financial Members. If you are not, not only will you be in breach of ADAA’s Regulations, you will also forfeit all Clear Round and/or Qualifying Certificates earned, so it is definitely in your interests to ensure that your membership is up-to-date.

The Board of Directors advises that it is seeking nominations for a General Representative in terms of Article 33c of the Memorandum of Association. The appointment shall be until the Annual General Meeting next after the date of election. Nominations must be received on or before 5.00 pm 14 July 2007 and interested members should contact the ADAA Chairman to obtain the prescribed form, together with details of the relevant obligations and duties that accompany the position.

Grand Prix 2007 update - view schedule

A reminder that the early-bird entries close on 13 July. Getting in your entries will not only cost you less with the discount entry fee, but also will put you in the draw for the fantastic early-bird prize.

Whether you have a dog (or dogs) participating in the International Programme or the Regular Programme, the schedule caters for you. Plus of course the Starters and Intermediate dogs have their own Challenge to work towards at the Grand Prix. Finally, don't forget that there are some great non-titling events on the Friday night this year - be sure that you 'tick' the correct boxes on the entry form.

Tip Number 3

Why not save yourself some money and time and order the full meal package this year? As well as a great selection of dinners on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, this year we will also be having a sit-down buffet breakfast, so you can fill up at the start of your action-packed days! A free Friday evening BBQ ticket will be given to anyone ordering the full meal package to encourage your support.

May you enjoy your training with your dog and achieve your goals.
