![]() From the ADAA Chair ... May 2007A reminder that nominations are being accepted for the Queensland Agility Training Camp. Please refer to the camp schedule and booking form. Early bird entries, at reduced fees, close later this month, so don’t leave it until the last minute with the risk of missing the final closing date and missing out altogether. There is a great programme at the Camp and you get the opportunity to choose those sessions that best suit you and your dog. Congratulations to Lisa Ruberry our Secretary, and her husband Rob, on the birth of their son, Dakota, on 24 April 2007. They are all doing well, and from all accounts, Lisa and Rob look like they are really enjoying parenthood. I am sure you join me in wishing them well. A number of Clubs are experiencing difficulties with payments for entries as their banks are not accepting cheques made out to abbreviations of their Club name. For instance, BADC instead of Brisbane Agility Dog Club Inc. If possible, would you please make out all cheques in the full name of the recipient to save any possible issues and/or follow up action. Pine Agility Dog Sports Club Inc recently hosted Christine Zink and Janet Gauntt for two weeks. Chris’ predominant focus for the first weekend was structure and conditioning of the canine athlete. Then, with input from Janet, she spent a day on jumping skills. Janet followed up with a “skills” day on their final teaching day. They kept very business in between with day trips hosted by PADS’ club members, a trip to Cairns plus Chris spent time with individual handlers and their dogs giving expert advice on individual injuries and issues faced, and Janet volunteered to teach at PADS at training nights. Grand Prix 2007 update With just over two months left until the close of Grand Prix early-bird entries, I trust that many of you are currently in the process of forming your teams. Don't forget that you will need to split your team in two pairs for the Pairs Relay on the Saturday (this forms Round One in the Team Challenge), so best to decide the split early. This year we want to give you more choices! We are hiring a jukebox and will be taking song requests for $1 for Sunday night’s Dinner. There will be a nomination box, for you to place your request available, from Friday night. Seating allocation for the Sunday dinner is also up to you this year. We will have a list out for everyone to nominate who they want to sit with, which will help us with our table arrangements. There will also be an allocated time for the dining hall to be available should you wish to decorate your table as part of the 'True Blue' theme. Tip Number 2
May you enjoy your training with your dog and achieve your goals. Cathy Slot |
