From the Chairman...October 2005

By the time you receive and read this The Grand Prix 2005 will be over and nothing but a fantastic memory, and the date of next years event inked into your 2006 Diary. At the time of writing there are many people very busy preparing for this year’s Grand Prix, and I would like to thank them all for their time and effort so willingly given.

The Grand Prix Sub-Committee, consisting of Wendy Blakeston, Karen Coggan, Tandy Allen, Mike and Sharon Dungey and Annette Broome did a fantastic job, were most innovative in their ideas for prizes and for the smooth running of the weekend. Cathy Slot was the volunteer who did the entries, running orders, catalogue and other mountain of paperwork. Then there were the 16 judges who coordinated their course designs to allow for speedy course changes and then had the joy of juggling their judging commitments and their runs with their own dogs. Now we could have all the planning in the world and the greatest Prize Table ever, but without equipment, no competing would occur. Tracey Harrison-Hill and Glen Harrison bought the one set of WAAG equipment from Queensland and Loyd Barker towed the ADAA Trailer from Sydney. So thanks to both the conveyors and to WAAG and SHAG for the use of the equipment. My sincere thanks to you all. Without each and every one of you everyone else’s job would have been that little bit harder. You made a fantastic TEAM.

The ADAA Board of Directors is proud to announce the 2006 Medallion Stakes. The rules as well as those for the 2006 Invitation event are now available on our New Look website. Hope you all enjoy the event and some of you manage to grab GOLD this year. If you have not been on the website of late, though that’s hard to imagine as I visit it many times a day… you may not have noticed that our in house Website designer Sharon Steele has been hard at work and the site has a brand new stylish look. Random dogs pop up every time you open a page… I have yet to find a Sheltie..but Sharon assures me there are several. Fantastic work Sharon!!

As you may gather from the above ADAA’s backbone is volunteer help. Every Board Member fulfills their role in a voluntary capacity, as do the Judges, as do the Scribes, Scorers and Marshalls at Competitions, as do the committees of ADAA affiliated clubs. When help is called for please don’t hide… in fact, think what you would be good at assisting with and offer your services. Maybe you would like to consider becoming a new Judge. It is fantastic how the Judging load on any individual judge has eased in the last 12 months, with the new crew of Level one Judges on board. The judging program is divided into several stages; so getting to Level one is hard work, but not too onerous. You may choose to remain at that level or slowly progress through the levels. If Judging is not your strength, but leadership and organising is, them maybe you may be the driver needed to start a new ADAA affiliated club in your area. There are many ways to help.

As usual Enjoy your Agility

Marion Allen
