From the ADAA Chair ... October 08

From a personal perspective this year’s Grand Prix was one of the most pleasurable I have experienced for a number of years. There seemed to be an aura of everyone pitching in to help (certainly that is what I experienced on the admin/secretariat side of things) and the HERO’s (under Damian’s leadership) did a fantastic job, not to mention the whole event organisation undertaken by Alison Muddle and the Grand Prix Sub-Committee. It was extremely encouraging to see quite a few new faces this year, and many doing a great job in solving the riddles set by our Judges. If you’d like to read more about the Grand Prix check out the Report and Results. And yes, we have started planning Grand Prix 2009, with Alison Muddle offering to head up the Grand Prix Sub-Committee for next year’s event. If you would like to join the Sub-Committee or help out, we always looking for new faces and ideas, get in touch with Alison (whether you are from Qld or NSW).

Planning for Dogmania 2009, being led by Marion Allen, has commenced and South East Queensland members are asked to nominate to assist on the Sub-Committee. The Medallion Stakes commenced the 2008/2009 rounds at the Grand Prix and members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the rules for the upcoming year.

ADAA’s Annual General Meeting was held at Macksville and I would like to congratulate Penny Mead for her re-appointment to the Board as General Representative (having filled a casual vacancy earlier this year). For those members who aren’t from NSW and/or don’t know Penny personally, she travelled to the IFCS World Championships as our Australian Team Manager earlier this year and has been working with Nicola Read in her role as NSW Regional Representative, sharing the load and, in particular, developing new opportunities for NSW members. All other Board members are continuing their term and we look forward to the upcoming 12 months.

ADAA held a competition for titles at the Orange Blossom Festival held at Baulkham Hills. Unfortunately whilst our members were prepared to brave the weather and conditions, a lot of the general public weren’t quite so keen. Nevertheless it was great to see quite a number of new members to ADAA participating, including a number who participated at the ADAA NSW Training Camp a few weeks beforehand.

May you enjoy your training with your dog and achieve your goals.
