![]() From the ADAA Chair ... Grand Prix 2006 Report30 September to 2 October
Congratulations to Marion Allen, the Grand Prix Sub-Committee, all of the Judges, Scribes Scorekeepers, Marshalls AND Competitors for an inspiring Grand Prix. It wasn't just a weekend of Agility, it was a weekend of camaraderie, fun, support and social activities. Friday night's BBQ saw everyone sitting together, the Sweepstakes drew big crowds and the spirit of Sunday night's crazy hat theme was entered into followed by lots of singing and dancing. Thank you to the Grand Prix Sub-Committee who did a huge
amount of work to make the event such a success: There were many others who contributed significantly to the event. The entry processing, running orders, catalogue and associated paperwork was undertaken by Cathy Slot using the Competition Database written by Jo Harvey (PICSI). Equipment was transported to the Grand Prix by Loyd Barker and Natalie Kirkwood. Sue Selby undertook the amenities clean up before and during the time that everyone was at the facility plus undertook liaison with local businesses prior to the weekend. Karen Coggan once again kept competitors informed with the goings on in rings during the day. Rod Scott (The Petographer) took some great shots of dogs over the weekend and can be seen at http://petographer.fotopic.net. The prize table for the Grand Prix received many compliments with prizes ranging from soft crates, ADAA custom made mattresses, three-dimensional laser agility crystals, custom made pottery bowls, bags, toys, mugs and glasses. Before the competition started a number of Bronze Handler
awards were presented. These are fabulous portraits of the handlers dog of
choice provided by ADAA at no cost upon presentation of the required number of
Clear Round and/or Qualifying Certificates (100 for Bronze). Congratulations to: It was absolutely awesome to see so many members receiving their awards at the same time. In addition, Kate Bartels was presented with the first Junior Achievement Award Bronze and Silver. Of course no ADAA competition can be held without
volunteers. For the Grand Prix a number of members traveled to the event for the
sole purpose of helping out for the weekend. Thanks to: Also thanks to the following for spending half day or
more helping out at the rings: Just like ADAA, the Uralla Showground Trust also operates on a purely volunteer basis. They give up, not only their whole weekend to provide food and facilities to our members, but many days beforehand preparing the grounds. Thanks to them all. Sunday nights dinner was great with lots of
entertainment throughout the night. Winners of the individual crazy hats were:
Group winners of the fancy dress were the SunCoast FunDogs "Village People". The other entrant was PADS with their Fast Food theme. Congratulations to both clubs for participating. Lisa Ruberry and Damian Noud put together the music for the evening and Damian went on to be the Master of Ceremonies/DJ leading everyone onto the dance floor. Of course there was Agility too, with some very competitive classes (Mini class was a tie on points, clear rounds and total faults and went back to dogs' total time with a difference of 8 seconds over three rounds between the top two dogs). Congratulations to the major event winners: Cathy Slot |
