Whether you are a casual agility enthusiast, think you have what it takes to take on the rest of the world with someone else's dog, or want to display your skills with your dog to become a celebrity and/or earn some great prize money, please find below some information to wet your appetite for the weekend.

Entries in the Macksville Double Header Weekend are encouraged from all ADAA Members

The weekend will encompass a variety of Open A events (ie open to all dogs, titled and untitled, on both the International Programme Register and Regular Programme Register). The Weekend also includes Selection Events for the team to represent Australia at the IFCS World Agility Championships 2010 as well as Try Outs for competitors wishing to participate in the World Dog Games.

World Agility Championships Selection

The IFCS World Agility Championships 2010 (WAC) will be held in the United Kingdom. ADAA has been offered a full complement of host dogs so that we can send a team of up to 12 Handlers to compete! The development of this exciting opportunity was preceded by a series of events. Steve Drinkwater, Oceania representative for IFCS, judged (and Cathy Slot attended and assisted officials) at the 2004 WAC (in Spain). Steve again judged and this time was the Chief Judge for the 2006 WAC (in the Netherlands). In 2008 Steve was Chief Judge and Cathy Slot judged and provided administrative support (in Belgium). 2008 was also the first year that Australia had a team on the field, Mal Williams and Tracey Harrison-Hill ran host dogs from Belgium and Penny Mead was the Team Captain.

The weekend of 7-8 June 2009 is the first of the two Australian WAC Selection Competitions. Over the weekend there are four specific events, one each in four skills classes, that nominees who have submitted their Expression of Interest on or before 30 April 2009 may utilise towards their eligibility for Australian Team Handler selection.

World Dog Games Try Outs

The World Dog Games (WDG) will be held at Acer Arena (Homebush Bay, Sydney) later in the year. It is set to be the biggest canine event ever held in Australia and will include not only live competitions/shows but international seminar
presenters, demonstration areas and stalls/ merchandise. ADAA is hosting the Agility competition at the WDG at which there will be two classes (limited to four dogs per class) competing over five Agility courses with first place prize money of $10,000 for each class.

The WDG Try Out weekend is the sole opportunity for Members to "Try Out" for the Finals. Over the weekend there are two specific Agility events that Members may "Try Out" in and their cumulative results will determine the selection for the WDG Finals.
